Changes in Japanese Stamps Uniform (3/13)

(From 1877 to 1886)

The pointed leek hat was replaced by the round "manju cake" hat. This was used from around 1874 but was not officially adopted as part of the uniform until 1884.
The red stripe on the collar and trousers was abolished. A number label with a crest-like mark was placed near the top of the left sleeve.
